Cory Mortensen is an award-winning author of historical travel memoirs that blend adventure, humor, history, and the people found far from the interstate. Born in New Prague, Minnesota, and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, he worked on Wake Island before building a career in architecture, construction management, entrepreneurship, and real estate. After selling his company, he devoted himself to exploring and writing. His books include The Buddha and the Bee, UNLOST, Embracing Bewilderment, and Middle Miles. He lives in Arizona with his wife, Kate.
He left college for a Pacific atoll, built and sold a company, then traded the balance sheet for backroads. His new memoir, Middle Miles, follows him by bicycle from Canada to Mexico along the Pacific Coast Highway.
