Unbreakable Courage: Strong Faith in an Age of Anxiety, Chaos, and Exhaustion
by Max Lucado
A New York Times bestseller on finding strong faith in an anxious age.
In Unbreakable Courage, Max Lucado offers a fresh look at the story of Elijah the prophet, whose unswerving belief fueled his courage in uncertain times. The title initially made me think it would be another general book about having courage, but the focus on Elijah actually makes it more interesting to me. I’d like to see what lessons he draws from his story
- Simeon
I’ve always found Elijah’s story interesting because he was courageous but also had moments when he was completely overwhelmed. That makes him feel much more human to me

I’m curious whether this book is mostly about Elijah or whether Lucado spends more time connecting the story to what people are dealing with today. The description makes me want to find out

I haven’t read this one yet, but the description made me stop because of the word exhaustion. People talk a lot about being strong, but not as much about what happens when you’re simply tired

The idea of finding strength when you’re completely worn out is something I can relate to. I’ve heard the story of Elijah many times, but I don’t think I’ve ever really thought about it in terms of anxiety and burnout

I can also relate to the idea of trying to stay hopeful when everything around you feels uncertain. Sometimes you just need a reminder that you’re not carrying everything by yourself
- graham
I’d like to see how the author connects it to modern life
- Dave
I’m curious about the balance between the biblical teaching and everyday life. If the author can make Elijah’s story feel relevant without forcing the comparison, I think it could be a worthwhile read

Elijah’s story has always been interesting to me
- Joshua
I’m hoping the book goes beyond simply retelling the familiar parts
- Kim
I like books that take familiar Bible stories and look at them from a different angle
